VOS Group has assisted the operators of 189 Kent Street in implementing a major upgrade of the mechanical systems at the building. This upgrade included removal of existing cooling plant and introduction of a high efficiency chiller, chilled water cooling, outside air cooling and BMS controls. This upgrade improves the energy efficiency and quality of air provided to the building. This in turn reduces building operating costs and improves the comfort of all building users.
Installation and commissioning is primarily complete and actual utility data has been used to calculate the post-project energy usage and a significant reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions may be observed. The reduction in energy use is displayed in the graph below.
The project offers excellent potential for measuring and sharing project outcomes as the 189 Kent Street building has a high number of visitors and is located in the CBD of Sydney.
The Greenhouse Gas Reduction achieved through the upgrade is
31 t CO2e/m2 pa; equivalent to taking 9,500 cars off the road.
