VOS Group was commissioned to assess the proposed Double Bay Marina redevelopment’s impact on climate change in accordance with Woollahra Council Local Environment Plan (LEP). Two major types of sustainable energy systems were considered for on site generation at Double Bay Marina; these being photovoltaic (PV) outdoor lighting and PV power generation. The assessment of sustainable energy options was carried out based on RETScreen assessment tool (Minister of Natural Resources - Canada, 2005) which utilises concepts outlined in The Green House Gas Protocol for Project Accounting (World Business Council on Sustainable Development, 2003). The GHG emission reduction associated with each option was evaluated using the RETScreen assessment tool. Payback periods were also determined as part of the study. Meters for both electricity and water were also recommended to be installed. These meters will allow the consumption to be recorded directly on the bollard or via a central computer in the office. VOS also provided advice on water management including the use of bore water and funding opportunities.
