The Australian School of Advanced Medicine (ASAM) is based at the new Macquarie University Hospital Specialist Clinic which is part of the Dalcross/Macquarie University Private Hospital development at Macquarie University. ASAM are a research and teaching department. The project formed the fit out of the ground and first floor levels of the Specialist Clinic Building. ASAM is a learning and research organisation that study and develop new medical techniques and surgical procedures. They form part of Macquarie University and have close links with the Dalcross Private Hospital as part of the research program. The schooling side of the facility exists on the ground floor level. The range of students in the facility will range from medical students to scholars and highly experienced surgeons who will use the facility to hone their craft. Part of the ground floor also contains a virtual mortuary which must meet all of the legislation requirements of such a facility. Typically these personnel will be working within the hospital and the ASAM facility. The first floor level is dedicated to research side of the organisation and also houses school faculty office facilities. The research element consists of five laboratory hubs operating as PC 2 areas. The facility includes systems such as Medical Gas systems, fume cabinet exhaust and air balancing control between various sections of the building. VOS Group designed the mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, medical gas and fire services for the facility. |
