VOS Group were commissioned to undertake a Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint assessment for Thyssenkrupp Elevators Sydney. ThyssenKrupp (TK) Elevators is in the business of the manufacture, installation and servicing of elevator, escalator and moving walkway equipment. The key emission sources from TK Sydney office operations were identified as follows: Vehicle fuels; Electricity; HVAC Systems; and Hot water heating.
The assessment defined short (2012), medium (2015) and long term (2020) carbon reduction targets along with estimated costs to achieve these targets. Recommendations to reduce the emissions include: Switching to lower carbon fuels at three year fleet changeover. Reducing demand for electricity and replacement of inefficient systems. In addition to defined targets, further initiatives are suggested including zoning and controls of HVAC systems, fleet operations, driving style, and staff awareness
